Qualifications: Knowledge Needed:

To qualify this candidate must have the specific commodity expertise and planning experience to take on a senior materials role in a molecular biology based manufacturer.

BS degree in Science, Chemistry or the like
MRP/ERP knowledge
Commodity expertise required in life science chemicals; or commodities in the life sciences arena such as to regents; molecular biology equipment; chemistry; pharmaceuticals etc.
Experienced buyer and planner with in depth scientific understanding of this industry or commodity
Expertise in both buying and planning
Track record of negotiating and managing chemical commodities supply agreements
Experience analyzing spend data and market trends
Identify cost savings and proactively implementing
Establishing sourcing strategies, manage the supplier selection process and monitor supplier performance
Travel is 10%

Duties: Experienced materials expert needed to handle a multimillion spend for the core commodity: chemicals related to molecular biology. This is a very senior, high visibility, supply chain position. This person has the responsibility to plan, schedule and monitor the movement of materials through the production cycle to meet production schedule. Reports direct to the Supply Chain Director.

Purchases materials
Plans and drives production schedule
Maintain inventory at planned levels and drive system integrity for inventory accuracy
Assembles quotations, negotiates contracts
Develops new supply sources and manages established vendors
Monitors costs and schedules.
Implements and manages cost savings programs
